AS9100 and IA9100: Certify Now, Transition Once

IA9100 is the IAQG’s next 9100 standard. WCH implements AS9100D today so aerospace suppliers can bid — and takes the same system through IA9100 when the published text is in force.

The International Aerospace Quality Group is revising the 9100 series and moving to the IA9100 name — International Aerospace — so one global 9100 text sits over aviation, space, and defense. AS9100D remains the certificate primes accept today. IA9100 is the same family, not a different market.

You should not sit out aerospace work waiting for a publication date. Bid with AS9100D. Build a system your people can run. WCH writes that system so the IA9100 gap analysis later is a controlled update: close what the new text actually changes, keep what already works, and walk Stage 1 / Stage 2 for the transition under the IAQG’s rules when they apply.

That is why this site treats AS9100 and IA9100 as one aerospace program. Implementation, internal auditor training, and location pages use both names. When IA9100 is released, you will not need a new consultant or a second QMS — you will need a sequenced gap close, which is already how WCH runs revisions.

If you hold AS9100 now, ask for a transition-readiness review: flow-down, configuration, special processes, and the records an IA9100 auditor will still sample. If you do not hold it yet, start AS9100D with WCH and put IA9100 on the same project dashboard.
