Standards updates

Several standards you use are changing.

These pages explain what has been published, what is still in committee, when certification to the new edition is expected, and how organizations can move early or on the official timeline. Start with a free readiness assessment checklist, then request a quote online.

Change and certification dates

All nine standards WCH supports. Rows without a revision page are stable editions.

ISO 14001

Published — transition open

ISO 14001:2026 Environmental Management Systems

The 2026 edition keeps the familiar structure and tightens how organizations consider environmental conditions, climate, and integration with strategy. It is an update, not a rewrite of the 2015 system.

Transition notes

ISO 9001

Publication scheduled

ISO 9001:2026 Quality Management Systems

ISO 9001:2026 is expected to keep the Harmonized Structure and add clearer expectations on quality culture, ethical conduct, and how digital tools and climate context show up in the QMS. It is not a 2015-scale redesign.

Transition notes

AS9100 / IA9100

In revision — aligned with ISO 9001

AS9100D to IA9100 Aerospace Quality Management

IA9100 is the planned successor to AS9100, issued as a single international document rather than separate regional versions. WCH implements AS9100D now and structures the system so the IA9100 transition is a controlled update.

Transition notes

IATF 16949

2nd edition in development

IATF 16949 2nd Edition

The 2nd edition is being written from stakeholder feedback. IATF’s published priorities are simplification, clarity, and efficiency — while keeping the scheme effective — plus better handling of customer-specific requirements.

Transition notes

ISO 45001

DIS in circulation — expected 2027

ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety — forthcoming revision

The revision is expected to keep the management-system structure and put more weight on psychosocial health, workplace culture, and how work is actually organized — including remote and changing work patterns.

Transition notes

ISO 27001

2022 edition in force

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security

The 2022 edition reorganized Annex A around four themes and 93 controls, including 11 new controls aimed at current information-security practice. New and continuing certifications are to ISO/IEC 27001:2022.
